Mentoring
I enjoy mentoring students and designing accessible research projects for them. Below is a list of projects I conducted in the past years.
- Summer 2024: REU at the University of Michigan - Bessel functions values at Voronoi elements for finite classical groups. Students: David Cates and Kevin Le. David gave a talk about this project at the 2024 Young Mathematicians Conference. David and Kevin will also give a talk about this at JMM 2025.
- Winter 2024: Lab of Geometry at Michigan LoG(M). Explorations in Gauss and Kloosterman Sums. Students: Jonathan Wolinski and Tianshuo Yang. Students’ final poster.
- Fall 2024: Lab of Geometry at Michigan LoG(M) - Generalizations of Newton’s Method. Students: Zach Duah, Kyla Lee, Puxu Mao and Ryan Vig. Students’ final poster. Applications the team implemented can be found on Ryan’s website.
- Summer 2023: REU at the University of Michigan - (joint with Jialiang Zou). Triple product gamma factors over finite fields. Students: Nir Elber and Hahn Lheem. Students’ final report. Nir and Hahn gave a talk at JMM 2024 about their results. They started working on a sequel project about intertwining operators of degenerate principal series representations over finite fields. Nir gave a talk about this at the 2024 Young Mathematicians Conference. He will also give a talk about this at JMM 2025.
- Winter 2023: Lab of Geometry at Michigan LoG(M). Symbolic computation of Bessel functions. Students: Ellen Chlachidze, Yong Seung Lee and Yanyan Zhang.
